"Thanks a bunch!" A wave was all that was sent to the unexpectedly kind man, who left with his wagon pulled by two Ponyta. He left with a pleasant smile on his face, and it appears as even the farmer's Pokemon took a liking to the hitchhiker, enough to give something of a whine when he got off the wooden carriage. For him to serve a lift all the way from Tynker Town with such little concern all the way towards that place, meant he really had a good heart, and naturally he earned his hitchhiker's respect with that deed alone. Finally, time to start his actual legacy, under nobody's name.
Redhead reflecting the rising sun's light beyond the horizon, the lone man started advancing forward on the sandy road, step by step getting closer to the destined building. He had no idea where exactly he was going or what he was getting himself into, but what was certain is that today will be the start of a new chapter in his life. How long it will take, or how much effort he'd need, how much he would struggle or who will he meet in his way, were questions with no answer or relevance: from here on out, fate was to play this person's route, for better or worse, and he was fully prepared to meet such requirements when he set out on this journey. With hands in his pocket to keep warm, the man continued. But seriously, it was only morning, around 6 AM. What are the odds of the guy in charge even being awake so early in the morning? Pretty slim, anybody could guess.
That never got in Kouki's way, however. With sharp, green eyes, he stared at the road, trying to see anything in this foggy air, mist slowly thickening as he made his way along the trail in search for the large building, which only a moment ago was clearly seen from afar. "Ah, shit." He exclaimed passively, tucking out of his pocket a cigarette pack. Taking one of the few he had there left, Kouki proceeded to put it in his mouth and use a lighter to light it, burning the tip. He then took a good inhale with it in his mouth, and exhaled a cloud of smoke that blended in with the misty air. He only woke up a few minutes ago too, and he was already smoking. It was a really bad habit of his that he wanted to get rid of, but couldn't find the ability to; these things were heavily addictive, after all. Kids, don't smoke. It's bad for your health.
As he aimlessly walked, watching for his steps so that he'd stay on the sandy trail likely leading towards the laboratory, Kouki ran in his mind a few memories of everything that happened until now; how he had ran on Team Flare after serving them for quite the long while, stealing from the very leader's personal fortune and making his easy escape. Living on the streets like a dog apparently does pay a small merit, albeit a rather sly and unacceptable one. Well, it was Kouki's talent in the end, there wasn't much to do about that. Aeris, his mother, must have finished her shift in her restaurant for the day, most likely already home too. It relieved the man to know that his mother had finally adjusted to a steady, healthy life routine, and with his help too. Maybe he wasn't as bad with people as he took himself to be, and was just overreacting over a few coincidences! No, that'd be impossible... After all, Kouki never had any real friends because of his disability.
His thoughts were interrupted by a large block, which he walked right into. "Oof!! What the-...?" Seems like the lab was much closer than he had anticipated. In-front of him, a bit blurry because of the fog, stood a huge building with the sign reading 'Mulberry's Laboratory'. Well, it was much easier getting there than he had first thought, at the very least, taking barely five minutes of constant walking. With his cigarette nearly burned out entirely, Kouki threw it away as hard as possible, hoping that through the fog he managed to trap it in a place people won't notice it; nothing dirtier than tobacco leftovers laying on the walk.
He stood there for a moment, before deciding that his journey start as soon as possible, which means, there wasn't any time to waste. Even if it was around 6 AM, even if the professor was asleep, even if they were absent, he would get his Pokemon for the day. Stealing never really bothered him, after all, what's stealing another Pokeball if not another day in work, returning to his days as a grunt of Team Flare. ... No, not happening again. He's not going to become another villainous idiot that's only a pawn in the hands of a much bigger body that isn't even certain to succeed with their lack of awareness in excitement. He would know, he utilized that lack of awareness. And so, it was time Kouki got a little rough, upon decision. Cracking his neck twice with his right hand, he looked at the door for a moment before lifting his leg. And, with a swift thrust...
*BAM!*
... The door was slammed open, letting the cold air enter in a burst, revealing the figure of a redheaded, tall man, in a kicking stance, hands in his furcoat's pocket. Regardless if anybody was in that very lobby or not, the noise the impact did should have been enough to wake someone up. The funny part about all this was, however, how dull the expression on the man's face was, as after all, he himself only woke up a few minutes ago. And at last, the yawn of waking up came. Once he finished his little gesture, the redheaded man allowed himself in, and with a fierce, deep voice, he announced his reason.
"Hello, greetings, good morning. My name is Kouki Lithgow, and I'm here to get a Pokemon. Sorry 'bout the door. And yeah. Where do I get them then?"
It only occurred to him he had no idea how to actually ask for a Pokemon after he got in.
Whoops.

Ever since that other girl had come to the lab and obtained her first Pokemon, Ellie had been on high alert for more trainers. The look of excitement on the girl's face and the pure joy of when she'd obtained her Pokemon had even spread to Ellie and she smiled at the memory. It reminded her of when she'd got her first Pokemon, her little Poochyena, who was currently snoring under the desk she was sat at.
To make sure she never missed a trainer, the lab assistant had decided to take up her position at the front desk for a few hours, considering they didn't have a receptionist yet there was work to be done. She was clicking away with her mouse, opening many documents and typing things in when the front door to the lab exploded inwards, more light filtering into the already bright room. The brown haired woman looked up, her glasses practically falling off her nose with the sudden movement, and was surprised to see a tall, fiery haired man. Her Poochyena had also been startled by the movement and he sprang up, sprinting towards the newcomer and barking all the while.
"Rex, no! Come back!" Ellie called, pushing away from the desk and running after her Pokemon. She managed to catch him as he ran, although she was sure he wouldn't have done anything to the boy any way, and looked back up to the redhead, her hair even more flustered than before, "Sorry about that, he's a bit excitable. You're here for a starter Pokemon, right? Follow me." With a happy smile, she wandered back towards the desk, pulling up a program that contained all the available Pokemon, motioning for the boy to come and see his options.

Before he managed to fully grasp what was happening, there was a Pokemon running towards him, barking as it did. Luckily enough, the laboratory's lobby was unexpectedly wide, allowing the person behind the desk to get up in time and catch the rowdy Poochyena, which was likely startled by the way he opened the door with a kick like that. Besides being startled at the sudden approach of the pup, there was also the fact that these guys didn't seem to sleep at all, seeing how the place was well-lighted, the central lights up above even turned on. Did this presumed professor person stay up until now? Perhaps did she wake up prior and he only happened to come at a right time? It really wasn't that clear. However, it wasn't like it really mattered, it was only thoughts dwelling through his mind. And yet, he had the urge to actually ask her such a bizarre question.
But gosh. She really was pretty messy... Long, messy hair wasn't a pleasing sight for the redhead. Regardless, her friendly smile easily mesmerized him and the man found himself unable to function too well in response to her lovely voice and figure. She seemed to be a pretty caring person, about Pokemon that is. And before he knew it, there his mouth went ahead and spouted lines. "No, I totally get him. If you were to enter I would have probably bit you." ... Hold on. That came out wrong. Kouki remained silent for a moment after saying something like that, following the girl and trying to fix his lines. "Not like that, I mean, if I was him. And he wasn't yours. ..." Maybe it's just better to keep quiet instead of further digging himself into that hole he just made.
As the program opened, Kouki leaned forward, quite close to the brown-haired professor. Enough that he leaned on the desk and managed to trace her odor. Without even a second thought, as the Pokemon choices only started appearing on the screen, the redhead pointed towards the Growlithe and exclaimed decisively: "This." You could only expect someone with a nice touch to Fire-type Pokemon to immediately jump the trigger over the sight of a Fire-type up for selection.

Ellie laughed at the boy's awkward ramblings, but it wasn't a harsh, ridiculing laugh but rather a sweet, good natured one. She understood what he was getting at and it was nice to have a little bit of humour in these long and tiresome work hours, she'd been up for most of the night away. The Pokemon in her arms struggled to get out of her grasp when she sat at the desk, hopping out of her hold to scramble on to the top of the table next to the boy. He sat facing him, wagging his tail excitedly as he studied the redhead. The lab assistant tutted disapprovingly at him, but her Poochyena just ignored her.
She smiled at Kouki when he chose his Pokemon, "Growlithe is a good choice, I used to have a few when I was a child," The brown haired girl smiled at the memory of her childhood before turning her attention back to the present, "Wait here, I'll just go grab your Pokemon and the free supplies you get!"
Standing up from the desk, she accidentally bumped heads with the boy as he was closer than she thought. She laughed sheepishly before quickly speeding off into the back, leaving the red headed ball alone with her Poochyena. She arrived back soon enough with a Pokeball and bag full of supplies.
"Alright, in here you have basic supplies such as Pokeballs, Potions, Pokedex and TM case, but when those run out you'll either have to see if people will give you freebies or buy your own," Ellie handed him the bag before offering him the Pokeball, "Also, don't forget your Growlithe!"
